Therapeutic Approach
Whether working with a child, teen, or adult, my starting point will always be to begin with establishing a trusting and safe relationship. As rapport continues to develop, we will collaborate and use evidence-based methods to foster meaningful growth and lasting change.
Play-Based Therapy (Ages 5+)
Children don’t always have the words to explain their feelings, but play gives them an outlet to express themselves. This approach uses play materials, children’s books, and creative activities to help children explore emotions, process experiences, and develop emotional awareness in a space that feels safe and supportive.
Talk Therapy (Psychotherapy)
This is the more traditional, conversational style of therapy. It’s about building a trusting relationship where clients can talk openly about thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Together, we work to identify patterns, gain insight, and move toward a stronger sense of emotional well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. By learning to notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns, clients can develop practical strategies for more effectively managing anxiety, low mood, or everyday stress.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT blends cognitive strategies with mindfulness practices. It’s especially useful for people who feel overwhelmed by emotions or have difficulty in relationships. Through DBT, clients learn skills like emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and healthy communication while also learning to accept themselves.
Mindfulness-Based Practices
Mindfulness helps us slow down and pay attention to what’s happening right now, without jumping to judgment or reaction. These practices support emotional balance by interrupting automatic habits, calming the mind, and allowing us to respond to challenges with greater clarity and presence.
